National Tree Planting Day

The Mulwala Public School gardening club students were excited to participate in the National Tree Planting Day on Thursday, 26th July. They appreciated Steve and Janice, from Yarrawonga Toyota, helping them plant native shrubs and grasses in the Bush Tucker Garden. Toyota is a major sponsor of National Tree Planting Day and they provided the students with t-shirts, gloves, stakes and tree guards. Yarrawonga Bunnings, another sponsor, also donated a number of the native shrubs and grasses to plant. The students learnt how to prepare and water the soil, plant the shrubs after teasing the roots, and then place the tree guards around the plants to protect the new plants from the frost.
